Referrals are no longer just for your dermatologist or chiropractor, physicians have started to referr their patients to certified personal trainers. We have finally stopped prescribing the "quick fix" pill and realized that the best medicine is a good dose of exercise with the right diet! Not only that, but now you can even get a wellness coach! Instead of counting reps or miles, they will help instill healthy behavior changes that will last longer than most of our New Year's Resolutions.
4. Health Promotion in the Office:
While some corporations will offer an incentive to exercise on your own, others are actually bringing fitness into the workplace. This means personal training during the lunch hour, wellness education classes instead of meetings, healthier options in vending machines, and yes even Zumba in the conference rooms! Shake it!!
3. Reaching a New Market:
With 1/3 of children in America overweight or obese and schools trying to cut down on recess and spending costs by not purchasing nutritional options, we need to reach out in new ways to teach healthy lifestyle practices to the youngest generation. On the other spectrum, retirees are becoming fitter and more active than ever. Tapping into their extra time and money to live a better quality of life for years to come.
2. CrossFit Gyms:
With functional training and bodyweight exercises at the height of this program, CrossFit exceeds the parameters of normal demands placed on the body through sports or training. The idea is to constantly change their programs so that their body never adapts and is always being challenged. People are becoming part of this awesome "community" of individuals where they combine the Paleo diet with extreme high intensity interval training and are becoming the leaders of physical fitness!
1. Group Exercise:
This is not just a fad, but group ex is here to stay! Whether you jump into Zumba, spinning, yoga, or boot camp, the commeradery and spirit of the class will have you begging for more! These classes hold you accountable and keep your motivation high; trust me, you won't get bored!
This was a good year for health and wellness,
but what fitness phenomenons can we expect in 2013??
